Judging by how Phil’s last February 2nd day was set up, it was as though Larry was next to experience the time loop.
At first, while watching, I was so focused on Phil and how he was such a terrible person to his colleagues. I sympathised with Rita and Larry, but by the last day, I realised that Larry also needed to learn the same things Phil had learned, reliving February 2nd for years.
Speaking of Phil, I want to talk about what I learned watching him
Watching Phil relive the same day for years (I suppose) made me wonder about myself. What would I do if I didn’t have to worry about bills, promotion, work – the badges we are supposed to collect while on earth – what would I do with my time?
When the time loop started for Phil, he hated it. Then he used it to get what he wanted, like women, money, and then he killed himself several times, but after trying so many times and failing to get Rita to sleep with him, it somehow clicked that he should explore all that the day had to offer.
He read more, learned new languages, picked up several skills like ice sculpting and playing the piano, he helped the townspeople who were now his people. He lived, he truly lived.
I do wonder how I could take that lesson and apply it to my life.
