Le Comte de Monte-Cristo (2024): Andre de Villefort’s fate hurt my soul

2024

After he exposed Monsieur de Villefort, I was expecting him to reunite with his mother, Victoria and live a happy life thereon out, but alas, he killed his father and then was shot in the back by the police.

Andre de Villefort died in the arms of his adoptive sister Haydee. I was so hurt by this because he had a difficult life. I wanted him to win just once. To win for himself and his aunt, Angele, who risked her life to save him.

But then, when I think about it, he did carry out his aunt’s plan. He killed Monsieur de Villefort. He completed the mission she had abandoned for his sake, 20 years ago. He had also been able to build a good friendship with his half-sister Eugenia and did the one thing that mattered to him the most: look into Monsieur de Villefort’s eyes and stab him in the throat.

I still wish he lived, though. Nevertheless, I am happy that Albert and Haydee found each other. I am also happy that Edmond refused to kill Fernand. He must live with the shame of his evil deeds.

It was also great that Edmond finally got to sail again. A job he loved so much that it was snatched away from him at such a young age.
